Deep Fake
"Can we still trust our eyes?"
Deep fakes – videos and audio files manipulated using artificial intelligence – are setting new standards in the art of deception. A perfectly forged video of a politician confessing or a celebrity making controversial statements – the possibilities seem endless. These forgeries are so convincing that even experts struggle to detect them. Critics warn that deep fakes could blur the line between reality and fiction once and for all. Combined with the rapid spread on social media, they can be used to sway public opinion, spark outrage ("shitstorms"), or even influence elections. Not a good sign for the future of democracy.
