"Are secret elites planning a global economic war?"

That’s what some conspiracy theorists claim. Allegedly, their goal is either to destroy the global economy or to tighten their control over humanity. The usual suspects are identified as the bad guys: the Rothschild family, the Bilderberg group, George Soros or the Illuminati. These actors are attributed with god-like powers: capable of manipulating the economy at will, along with controlling major media outlets, politicians, and governments. However, it is highly implausible that any individual or group could ever achieve such immense power. Think about it for a moment: If not even the supervillains in the Marvel universe can pull off such stunts, how could it be possible in the real world?
