Infiltration of the Economy

Conspiracy theorists assert that a shadow elite is infiltrating the economy. Leadership positions in large international companies and corporations are claimed to be either filled with their own people or influenced in their decisions through bribery, extortion, or manipulative psychological techniques such as Mind-Control or Dianetics (a method of Scientology). Subsequently, they would exert economic pressure to gain control over governments, intelligence agencies, mainstream media, educational institutions, and cultural organizations. This, in turn, could enable the manipulation of public opinion at will, diverting attention from their clandestine rule. Nevertheless, experts regard these theories as highly simplified and exaggerated.
