MK-ULTRA was a covert CIA research program conducted from 1953 to 1975, exploring the possibilities of mind control. Conspiracy theorists claim that it continued under the new name ‘Monarch’: a mix of brainwashing, trauma, and conditioning techniques would be used to create dissociative identity disorder in targeted individuals. The split-off personality parts could then be activated by trigger stimuli to carry out any commands without the main personality being aware of it. Hidden as subliminal stimuli in films and advertisements, millions of people could be turned into remote-controlled slaves – much like in the horror classsic ‘They Live’. Evidence? None. Or does this prove that the brainwashing works?
