Monsanto

Monsanto is a multinational agricultural corporation known for the development and distribution of crop protection products and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). A legitimate concern is that GMOs could have a negative impact on the environment and biodiversity. It is also criticized for its increasing monopoly position in the area of agricultural products, which it secures through seed patents, among other things. Equally controversial is its herbicide Roundup, as it contains glyphosate, which is considered harmful to health and potentially carcinogenic. The most blatant accu- sation is that Monsanto is maliciously trying to poison people and the environment. However, at least this ‚ecocide‘ accusation rather belongs in the realm of conspiracy myths.
