NSA
“Is it true that the NSA is spying on us all, anytime, everywhere?”
The National Security Agency (NSA) is a US intelligence agency responsible for collecting and analyzing information and monitoring communications. Conspiracy theorists have long claimed that the NSA conducts illegal wiretapping and other covert methods (e.g. a program to read encrypted data on the Internet) to establish an extensive mass surveillance worldwide, all of which seriously violates privacy and civil rights. This time, however, the theory proved to be true. In 2013, whistleblower Edward Snowden, a former NSA and CIA employee, released secret documents revealing the immense extent to which secret services monitor the population – not just in the USA but globally and regardless of suspicion.
