"Do shamans possess supernatural powers?"

Shamans are spiritual leaders and healers who use rituals, trance states, and drugs to enter altered states of consciousness and communicate with the spiritual world. Could such supernatural abilities also be harnessed for political manipulation or military purposes? This question was explored in the CIA's Stargate Project, which ran from the 1970s to the 1990s. The programme investigated extrasensory perception (ESP) and parapsychological phenomena such as telekinesis, clairvoyance, and remote viewing – considering their potential use as weapons. The results were largely disappointing: for example, soldiers failed to kill goats using only the power of thought.
