QAnon

QAnon (Q for short) is a loosely organized movement that promotes bizarre conspiracy theories with an extreme right-wing background. One of its defamatory narratives, which went viral under the hashtag ‘Pizzagate’ during the 2016 United States presidential election cycle, suggested that Hillary Clinton was operating a child pornography ring in the basement of a pizzeria. The movement faced significant embarrassment when a heavily armed supporter attempted to free the allegedly kidnapped children from this pizzeria, which, in reality, didn’t even have a basement.
Despite this setback, QAnon persisted. The movement demonstrated its mobilization capability in 2021 when Q supporters violently stormed the Capitol, fuelled by the belief that the election had been ‘stolen’ from their perceived savior, President Trump.Trump.
