John D. Rockefeller was one of the wealthiest men of his time and, as the founder of the Standard Oil Company, controlled a large part of the oil business. Conspiracy theorists claim that since then, the Rockefeller family has been part of a secret elite that controls the global economy and steers governments. Their philanthropic activities in the areas of health, education, and development would just be a facade – in reality, the programs were aimed at decimating the population. The very same accusations are made against the Rothschild family, Bill Gates, or George Soros – they don’t become any more true through constant repetition.
