Sandy Hook Hoax

The conspiracy theory refers to the massacre that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012: a gunman killed 20 chil- dren and 6 adults before shooting himself. Since then, Alex Jones and other far-right conspiracy theorists spread the theory that this was a false flag operation. The US government or other powers allegedly staged the incident in order to influence public opinion and tighten gun control laws. Jones claimed that the victims and their families were actors and that there were no fatalities. For him, the whole incident was nothing but a hoax. These proven false claims are not only disrespectful to the victims, but also have caused their families further suffering. Jones has been ordered to pay the families USD $1.4 billion as compensation for damages.
