Simulation Hypothesis

"Could it be that the reality we live in is just an illusion?"

Philosopher Nick Bostrom is the most well-known proponent of this speculative idea. Science fiction films like ‘The Truman Show’ and ‘The Matrix’ have popularized it among a wide audience. Some conspiracy theorists believe that this scenario is not fictional at all: without realizing it, we are all controlled by a higher power or a secret elite that keeps us trapped in a sophisticated simulated world. Why? Maybe to exploit our bodies as batteries in the ‘real world’ – using our bioelectricity as fuel for an army of robots and computer programs. The cunning aspect of this extremly unlikely theory is its unfalsifiability: neither proof nor disproof is conclusive, as either could simply be elements of the simulation itself.
