The coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which triggered the COVID-19 pandemic, was developed in a laboratory in Wuhan and acciden- tally or deliberately released from there – according to a popular conspiracy theory. The Chinese government then allegedly tried to cover up the matter. It is also often claimed that Bill Gates is be- hind the development and spread of the coronavirus with the aim of reducing the world‘s population. It is undisputed that the first outbreak of COVID-19 was recorded at the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan in December 2019. However, most scientists and experts agree that the virus developed and spread naturally by jumping from animals to humans.
