Zombie Apocalypse

There are animals like the salamander in which complete body parts can grow back. Could stem cell research one day make such regeneration possible in humans? And could it even bring the dead back to life? Conspiracy theorists warn against this. Misguid- ed research could turn large parts of humanity into zombies in the near future. This could be triggered by laboratory accidents or deliberate experiments with genetic manipulation, parasites (e.g. Toxoplasma gondii), neurotoxins (such as the drug Datura stramo- nium), viruses or microchips that take control of the test subjects‘ brains. For a post-apocalyptic TV series like The Last of Us, the scenario offers a good plot, but it doesn’t make it any more likely.
